We're in the middle of workshopping a new play for the Actors' Gang that chronicles the history of the United States. I guess it's public now, so I can talk about it. It's really in it's infancy, and I'm not sure if I will actually be part of the finished product. It's quite possible that I will be in some portion of it, though, as it is planned to be a six part series. Much of the first part will probably be about the voyage of Columbus and his landing in the New World. As a field trip, we all went sailing last weekend on an 80ft yacht. The Captain was very knowledgable about early sailing, and as we helped him rig the sails, he explained how things would have been done in the 15th century.

I've had the itch to go sailing for the past couple of years, and this trip has renewed my interest. I don't know how I'm going to go about answering the call of the sea, but in the mean time, I have been following the blog of Jessica Watson, and Australian girl who is trying to become the youngest person to circumnavigate the globe. Check it out.

Spain was terrific. The shows all went well and we were very well reviewed. The amount of bowing and curtain call that are expected in Europe took a little getting used to, but it was kind of nice once you got used to 3 curtain calls with standing ovations.

In case you were wondering why all the buttons on the navigation bar above are not working, it's because I have decided to abandon this design. After some thought, I have decided to develope a Flash site, rather than a traditional html/css site. It's more of an exercise really. I need practice with Flash/AS3, and there no better way to do that than put it to practice.

That said, I have been extraordinarily busy since the show closed, going up north for a while, and now being in the midst of an intensive acting and development workshop with Tim Robbins. It's been great fun, but very tiring and time consuming. I also must work on learning a new part for job in Spain.

7/7/09 Our Town closing this weekend

If you haven't had a chance to see Our Town, this weekend is your last chance. Although I am tired and ready to move on to something else, it's a bit of a shame. We are really starting to build an audience. With the exception of the Fourth of July, we had full houses all weekend. Despite it being a bit of a light crowd on the Fourth, our audience was terrific. They were all fully engaged, and seemed to appreciate us sacrificing our holiday to entertain them.

I am also pleased to announce that it looks like I will be going to Spain in September with a stage adaptation of George Orwell's 1984. Last time I was in Europe, I had wanted to go to Spain, but it was a little too out-of-the-way. It's nice to be able to go back and spend 3 weeks with friends working in what I have heard is an amazing country to visit.
